Kent Düşleri

2017, 2018

I have participated this workshop called “Kent Düşleri” meaning “Urban Dreams” held by the Chamber of Architects of Turkey, İstanbul Metropolitan  Branch since 2016. First-year, I was an intern and enjoyed the process so much that I wanted to be included again for the following years too.

In 2018, I was one of the coordinators with Uğur from the lovely crew Plankton Project.

The theme for the workshop was given as “City and Memory”. We arranged a walk through a route around the Chamber of Architects in Karaköy and we observed the memory of the place. We decided to work in Karaköy square which is supported by one of the axes from the new Karaköy pier. For years, the shore has changed with different constructions of Karaköy piers. To emphasize this change in our memory, students began to design urban furniture with a variety of functions in the area with palettes which we are used to seeing around us because of the urban renewal constructions in İstanbul. The furniture began to be used by the people in the area.

You can see the process of the workshop and the interaction of the design and local user here.

In 2017, I was an asistant coordinator of the workshop with different theme. You can also see the video of the production here.
